How I can support you when things start to feel too much ?

Hi, I'm Jackie Black. This work is personal to me. After years in the teaching profession—and my own experience with burnout—I came to understand what’s really going on beneath the surface, and why so many people end up feeling this way.

What led me here

For many years, I was carrying more than I realised. Like a lot of parents, I was balancing work, family life, and the constant pressure of trying to do everything well, while also supporting my son through the additional challenges that came with his ADHD. At the same time, I was working as a high school teacher, and like many educators, I didn't just do the job — I carried it. I cared deeply about my students, stayed back, gave more, and held a quiet but heavy responsibility not just for learning, but for the people in front of me each day.

What I didn't understand at the time was how much that was adding up. I started experiencing migraines almost weekly, putting them down to posture, long hours, even an old injury. Burnout wasn't something I was thinking about.

Then, during long service leave, I caught up with a colleague who asked how my migraines had been. It was only then I realised I hadn't had one since the start of my leave. Not a single one. Something clicked in that moment. My body had been under more pressure than it could sustain, and I hadn't had the language for what was happening. We talked about workload and expectations, but not about what all of it was actually doing to us.

That experience became a turning point. I began looking more closely at stress, resilience, and what was really happening beneath the surface. As I started applying what I was learning, something shifted — not just in me, but in how I showed up, and in how the people around me experienced me. That's when I understood something important: it's not just what we say or do. It's the state we're in when we do it.

When we're overwhelmed, it shows. When we're more centred, that shows too.

That's the work I do now. I help parents and professionals understand what's happening in the moment and how to shift it, not by adding more to your day, but by giving you simple, practical ways to regulate your system and come back to yourself when it matters most.

The person you want to be hasn't disappeared. Your system is simply under more pressure than it knows how to clear. And when that begins to shift, everything else starts to follow.

A simple way to reset in the moment

One of the tools I use in this work is a simple reset you can come back to when things start to feel too much.

It helps you pause, steady yourself, and respond a little differently—right there, in the middle of things.

It’s not about getting it right or finding more time.

It’s something you can use in real life, as it’s happening.

If you’d like to understand how it works, I’ve shared a short explanation here:

Tips for avoiding Burnout

  • Be aware of your stress levels: Plan times to check in with yourself. Find strategies that work for your to lower stress and anxiety.

  • Remember you are only human: Create a strong work-life balance and be strict with yourself. Give yourself a break.

  • Practice saying no: Don't be afraid to say no from time to time. It will be essential for your health and sanity at times!

Warning Signs of Burnout

Where Is Jackie Now?

In 2015, I made the difficult decision to leave the teaching profession. While I absolutely loved being in the classroom and working with students, I could see the direction education was heading, and I wasn’t willing to sacrifice my well-being for it. Walking away was hard, but it was the right decision for me.

My passion for personal development had been growing for decades. It all started in the early 1980s when I stumbled upon Dr. Wayne Dyer’s book, Your Erroneous Zones, on the coffee table of a hostel during a summer holiday. That book opened my eyes, and ever since, I’ve been fascinated by the power of personal growth.

In 2021, I stepped into the world of transformational coaching and mentoring after someone pointed out how naturally my love for teaching, personal development, and helping others fit together. That realisation changed everything. Now, I get to do work that lights me up—helping not just educators, but also families and professionals, build resilience, manage stress, and thrive.

Testimonials

Hear from Jackie's current and former clients.

I am a teacher and have been in the profession for over 25 years. I have held various rolesover this time, including several in middle management. Since coming out of the pandemic in 2021, I had been feeling very negative and unmotivated about my work and myself. This ledto frequent moments of anxiety and some bouts of depression.

I had trouble focusing and sleeping. I was often irritable, would find myself procrastinating and had trouble tacklingtasks with my usual efficacy. I suspected that I was suffering from burnout and could not muster the resilience to move beyond this dark period.

After having come to this realisation, I decided to seek support. I found working on myself with Jackie to be profoundly rewarding. Thanks to Jackie’s coaching style and targeted methods of support, I have begun to regain my confidence and re-develop my self-respect. I have learn a lot about myself and, most significantly,

I rediscovered my core values and unequivocally rely on them to guide my everyday actions and decisions.

I continue to use the tools and strategies that I have learn from Jackie and I am well on the way to

re-establishing my former self-worth.

- Monique R,

High School Teacher

I have seen a huge improvement with myself and the girls. I think the biggest light bulb moment I've had is it’s actually me creating the stress for myself and the girls. I've noticed I've been a lot more patient and I'm now resolving not reacting - something so simple but it's such a game changer.

Feeling like I'm back to my normal, happy patient mummy, My daughter absolutely loves doing this with me and we are now sitting down to do this together daily. It works wonders on us both. I have had such an incredible shift and not just with her but in all areas of life of feeling myself again and stress free and when

I do feel like I'm starting to get a little bit worked up, I've been going back to the technique.

- Sophie C,

Mother of a Two Children Under 5

I wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks to Jackie for sharing the benefits of heart coherence during the recent

6-week online course. It was truly an enlightening experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have met so many incredible individuals with inspiring stories and valuable insights.

The techniques and practices we learned have had a profound impact on both my health and my relationships. Her guidance and support throughout the course were instrumental in helping me understand and apply these principles effectively.

I strongly encourage anyone who is looking for more out of life to reach out to Jackie and join her for one of her courses. It will be one of the best decisions you can make. Thank you once again Jackie for your dedication and for making such a positive difference in my life.

- Jacqui G,

Mother

I want to express my gratitude for extending your hand with your gesture and intention to take my spent soul and lead me to the heart congruent pathway to turn my health around. I was in a stuck place and was lacking energy, extremely tired, low in confidence, morbidly obese and in a generally unhealthy state. This has happened over a period of a few years, maybe 5 to 7 years. I am grateful you took me by the hand as I had certainly all but given up hope of ever regaining my health and vitality.

While I could barely muster the energy to focus,in a surprisingly good few sessions I was able to focus long enough to have a real impact on other aspects of my life too.

I have jumped on board with a lifestyle program that is making a difference. Your sessions have given me tools that I now utilise to increase my brain capacity, clarity of mind and have contributed to the turn a round of my health and vitality.  I'm not 'there' yet but I'm well on my way.

- Joan M.

Property Manager

Working with Jackie opened my awareness to an entirely new dimension of intelligence—the intelligence of the heart. I learned how to tap into my heart’s wisdom to handle reactive situations with greater space, empathy, and connection. By consciously ‘switching on’ my heart, I’ve been able to shift my perspective, improve my relationships, and take greater ownership of my inner strength. One of the most valuable practices I’ve implemented is checking in with my emotional state each morning.

This simple habit has helped me approach each day with curiosity and intention, often starting with heart-focused breathing before even getting out of bed. While I’m still working on applying these techniques in challenging family interactions, I now recognise the obstacles and am actively observing them—something

I never did before. Another key take away from my sessions was the power of language. I’ve gained a deeper understanding of how heart-based communication allows me to express myself in a way that aligns with my values, even in difficult moments. This work has been truly transformative, and I’m grateful for the tools and awareness it has given me.

- Peter S,

Negotiation Adviser | Mediator | Facilitator

At first I was quite skeptical. I thought 'oh breathing? I breathe all the time. What's the difference?' But it's more mindful breathing... It's made me aware of when I need to go and take the time to step aside and breathe and that's a big thing. Put a pause on it. That has been a big thing. Learning to take steps back. On the days I don't practice, my day does not flow as well... It has helped me pull myself together more and find inner peace with myself and with my kids, how to communicate with them. That has really helped me a lot.

- Nancy T,

Mother of 2 teenage daughters

I shared a technique Jackie taught me with my son and I couldn’t believe how quickly and how well it worked the first time I tried. I now feel like we have a totally new way to communicate.

- Sally,

Entrepreneur, Mother of two children under 4

I practice the technique I learned in my very first session with Jackie daily. Six weeks later I feel like I am living a completely different life. I am calmer, more grounded and experiencing better connection and communication with my teenage son. That’s the biggest bonus!

- Tania O,

Mother of a teenager

As a mother of adult children, I wish I'd had known this 27 years ago. This knowledge would have transformed my parenting journey, and now I want to share it with my adult sons and step-daughters. Also as a teacher I want to help colleagues and this is essential knowledge for today.
